Bringing Attention to Abuse in the Courtroom

October30

I’ve been getting a few hits for people looking for information on Judge Leslie Lewis in Utah. That’s cool because I’m definitely not one of the top sites for her. People are doing their research. I just hope that most or all of them are Utah residents. Anyway, I noticed in a Google alert that popped up this weekend that her antics are making the letters to the editor pages. That’s still a great way to sway an election. Yes, the hard news coverage helps, but citizens putting in their own words why her retention is a mistake makes people who haven’t been following it closely think about the election more.

Also, for those of you who are coming here looking for more information, Voice of Utah seems to have some decent coverage, including quotes from the courthouse.

Overheard at the Third District courthouse yesterday:

“Man, I’ve had those (experiences) myself — she can put you in the fetal position.” (A lawyer)

“I hate to say it, but that’s pretty tame for Judge Lewis.” (Another lawyer)

“Good luck.” (A court employee to a lawyer, upon hearing that he was headed for Judge Lewis’s courtroom.)

Some emails I’ve gotten indicate there are many stories about the ego and absurd antics of this woman. With her low ratings by others in the judicial system, I would hope this would spur people to actually turn out. Because the video deals with hunting, anyone who is a member of a gun club, please see about sending out the link to the YouTube video to any email list or even printing some of the news articles and leaving them around the clubhouse.

I applaud voiceofutah for the stance against Judge Lewis, despite having a problem with hunting.

Of course, some of the commenters on there don’t seem to get the issue. But emotionally damaged and immature people are par for the course on LiveJournal ;)
