Ah F*ck

March1

A permit holder just did something really f*cking stupid. Now we all get to defend ourselves.

A woman who told authorities she was fed up with tailgaters pulled out a gun and shot at the tires of a pickup that got too close, police said. Officials believe the bullet missed the pickup, and no one was hurt.”She said she was tired of people tailgating her,” Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel said.

Headd, who had a permit to carry a concealed weapon, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm from a vehicle and use of a firearm during a felony.

I plan to be more passive with tailgaters. Someday, I’m going to modify a car to have camera in the front, rear, and sides, recording everything. It will be useful for capturing the license plate of tailgaters and potential police abuse.

Of course, I am a bit crazy. I also want to mount stock tickers on a car in order to send messages to people who annoy me while driving. I could also mount some sensors to gauge people’s speed and distance… mwa ha ha…

There is a minimum safe distance for any speed. I drive safely, so I will not close on the car in front of me to less than that distance.

And I drive safely, so I will not allow the driver behind me to close to less than the safe distance as he follows me.

I can’t, of course, control the distance at which he follows. But I can control the speed.

If we’re travelling at 60 mph, the minimum safe distance is 88 feet. If he insists on closing to only 60 feet, we’re being dangerously unsafe.

OTOH, if we’re travelling at 40 mph, we’re fine.

So however close we’re travelling, I slow down to where that distance is safe. If he wants to travel faster, he can pass me or keep his distance.

    jdege,

You’ve obviously never driven in beltway traffic. You leave that kinda space in front of you, and somebody’s gonna slip in there. You slow down to widen the gap and someone else will cut in. Pretty soon you’re driving backwards.
