Stupid Comment of the Day
I turn local news on as I get ready in the morning so I can get updates on traffic and weather. I had to switch to Fox 5 DC after some stupidity on the local NBC station. Since making the switch, I have long considered Allison Seymour to be the worst anchor on the morning news. When they talk about politics, she cannot control her rage when she talks about Bush and Republicans. She becomes visibly agitated. In fact, I almost wonder if it was her complete inability to discuss the issues like an adult without giving off extreme clues to her biases that made them cut the politics discussion segment.
Anyway, today Seymour was the source of another comment that was just completely inappropriate. See, DC is facing some crappy weather today. It’s a little rainy, very foggy, and miserably muggy. As Seymour kicked it over to the weather guy after an update on Hurricane Dean, she said something along the lines of, “We’re getting a taste of what they are experiencing down there.” What? It’s muggy here, they are getting slammed with a very strong Category 5 hurricane. Since when is muggy a taste of that?
I only have one option left since I believe the CBS affiliate just does the national morning show which is even more offensive than local news.
No obviously related posts.

This is the exact reason I can’t watch any local news. The people are often unprofessional and in an effort to entertain and increase viewership the actual news content has taken a downward spiral. (I really hope this is different around the country and is only a Utah problem, but I highly doubt it.)
I guess newspapers and the internet are all that’s left for me.
PS Welcome back Bitter and a warm welcome to Legal. I was having a hard time grieving over the loss of my favorite blog.
*laugh*
When I read the title of your post I thought “Dang, now what did I post yesterday that made her mad.”
Glad it wasn’t me
Waht an interesting, circular confluence of projection and empathy she exhibits. By projecting empathy for suffering in muggy weather she secures her moral vanity in solidarity with those affected by Hurricane Dean. It’s a micro-macro teach-in!
There’s always WTOP. Traffic and weather every 10 minutes at the 8.
Of course, I don’t bother with any of it. Traffic sucks, period. Its always bad. For weather, I dial 703-936-1212.
Then I listen to stern in the morning.
I assume wherever newscasters are taught, they are lectured that they must always smile. I find it a bit annoying to watch someone smiling while talking about, oh, fifteen people getting killed, or a hunt for a child molester, or a hurricane flattening someplace…
I become incensed when directly after reporting hard news of a negative nature they inevitably follow with a fluff piece to make us feel better. Goddammit! I’m a grownup, I can deal with reality.
If they can’t they should be into macrame and its history.
