How to Effectively Write a Letter to the Editor
Apparently, one gun owner forgot to follow my tips for writing a letter to the editor. Well, maybe he did and he didn’t realize that threatening to kill people and start a one-man civil war against the people of Wisconsin is generally not the way to win hearts and minds.
Now, you might argue that the letter did get published, so extremism is appreciated on the editorial pages. No, it’s not. What Mike likely doesn’t know is that the paper which published his threats takes joy in making what they perceive the “Right” to be look insane based on my experience with them. Mike helped them achieve that goal. They were likely reading his letter with wide eyes thinking it was too good to be true. Unfortunately, if I had written a well-reasoned letter about the same topic that arrived on the same day, mine would get tossed.
So, I guess another tip should be: Don’t be an asshole. Sorry, thought that was covered in the last instruction to be polite. Apparently, I wasn’t clear enough. Either that, or Mike thinks that he was polite because he didn’t deliver the letter attached the end of a flaming arrow shooting through their windows.
UPDATE: He also has apparently missed the tip about getting your facts right. He’s over at Sebastian making bizarre claims about Sebastian being a cop. I guess facts can’t get in the way of rambling.

You know…the Left is always threatening to kill us all one way or another as well, yet we hardly ever hear about those letters. Hell, they even go ahead and make good on those threats on occasion. Is there a double standard of behavior that I don’t know about where the Left can say and do whatever they want (because we all already know they ARE loonies), but we on the Right can’t, or shouldn’t? Just seems wrong to me.
