Oh, yes, it is that time.

So one benefit to being unemployed is that I’m home most of the day, including at times when eager young campaign staff come by to harass voters encourage citizens to participate in their civic duty. Yesterday was my lucky day.

An enthusiastic college-aged (or a recent grad) girl came by in her wife beater and short shorts covered in Pat Murphy stickers with her little clipboard and Democrat blue handouts. It was almost cute with her walking during the heat of the day, canvassing the neighborhood with curly blonde hair. You guys would have loved her.

I decided to play. (We women can be evil like that.)

This is a dramatization of our exchange. Please keep in mind that I was smiling sweetly the entire time and had a very upbeat, perky tone.

993366;">BLOG: No, thank you. He won’t find any votes in this household. But, good luck.

0000ff;">PEYCW: Do you mind if I ask why you don’t want to vote for him? We’ll make sure word gets back to him.

993366;">BLOG: Well, I’m upset that he has taken a leadership role in banning commonly used rifles, including those I might have looked at for hunting. If he’s going to jump on a ban against hunting rifles, I’ll be looking elsewhere for a candidate to protect my civil rights. (notes stunned look on girl’s face – heh, she wasn’t expecting that)

993366;">BLOG: Look, I already know that he claims to have a concealed carry license. But if he’s actively signing on as a sponsor to legislation to ban guns, that doesn’t address my concern.

And if you’re not going to follow-up with me, why do you need my name?

There was a little more, but nothing hugely relevant except her clear shock that young woman would cite gun rights as an issue for not supporting a Democrat. It was great. I threw the hunting connection in to make the point that the EBRs they want to ban are in fact used for hunting.  But, she also had a Pat Murphy sticker with a tree.
