Alaska: We Love Indictments!

August27

Ted Stevens who was indicted for essentially being a corrupt old man won his primary with 64% of the vote yesterday.

Don Young who hasn’t been indicted (yet), but has spent more than a million dollars of his campaign funds on legal fees for involvement in various federal investigations.  Without the indictment which apparently seems to function as an endorsement up there, his race is much tighter.  He’s edging out the main opponent by 145 votes so far.  However, they still have a few precincts out and there are absentee ballots that haven’t been counted.  Whenever I initially checked after waking up this morning, the difference was only 61 votes.

There was a third candidate in the primary who took almost 8,600 votes.  So in all likelihood, whichever way the election goes, we had a spoiler.

Bitter, this is off topic but I just wanted you to know that my “assumption” that Robb was shilling for a Para was done in jest. I have sent him an email apologizing if he actually thought I was serious and wanted to let you know as well.
