An Up-an-Coming Female Shooter to Watch
In her first Olympic bid, Jamie Beyerle isn’t doing too shabby. She’s a native Pennsylvanian, so I’m rallying for the home state girl.
While competing in women’s 10m air rifle, Jamie placed 4th. Last night, she was again within reach of a medal by placing 5th in women’s 3-position 50m rifle, a mere 7/10ths of a point behind the bronze medalist from Cuba.
She’s got some real potential to be in London next time around given this story about her qualification competition:
A 10-plus-point lead in shooting after the first day of competition is the equivalent of enjoying a five-touchdown lead in American football after 15 minutes of play. And that’s exactly what Jamie Beyerle had after day one of the three-day U.S. Olympic Trials for rifle three position. Even after the second day, when Beyerle enjoyed a near-15-point lead and could have coasted to a first-place finish, the Pennsylvania native was still worried about making her first Olympic Games. “I’m a true believer that nothing is for sure,” Beyerle said. “I was more nervous that last day than I had been.” Apparently the nerves were a good thing, as Beyerle shot her best qualification round of the three days with a 589. Because of the previous two days of finals scores, Beyerle didn’t even need to shoot the third final to clinch her Olympic spot.
Oh, and for you guys who want another reason to support Beyerle? She’s cute. Picture attached.
No obviously related posts.

On the cute thing . . . . I was noticing that last night as I watched the Womens air rifle coverage on the NBC Olympics web page
(wow – far far far far better coverage than the prime time pedophile-fest they call gymnastics that was broadcast on TV)
ALL the women competitors were not only cute, some were down right very attractive, but most importantly, the women looked like women, not like 22 year old pre-pubescent girls.
Something is seriously wrong with this country is people actually watch as much gymnastics (and figure skating) as the TV networks dedicate to that crap.
I actually like Gymnastics for the amazingness of the sport. Seeing the human body perform things one would not think it capable of. (Like back flips on a balance beam.)
But hey, I even like the men’s gymnastics. So I guess it’s not just about sex for me.
*lol*
However, I don’t have cable these days…so I haven’t watched any of the Olympics.
You’re not missing much, Jason. This year China has girls who are believed to be children competing illegally. They changed official documents and started scrubbing previous media reports on the Olympians that cited their real ages only after Western journalists uncovered the plot.
Jason, if you have a high speed internet connection, you can log onto http://nbcolympics.com/ and watch those events you are actually interested in.
Its pretty cool
