Democrats Have Hunter Arrested
A hunter who was checking into a Denver hotel yesterday before his trip to Africa was arrested for “unlawfully” carrying a gun – in rifle cases safely. Unfortunately, Democrats are staying in the hotel. So the cops hauled him off and only released him after he posted $10,000.
He is being investigated to see if his rifles have dangerous features – like a scope.
If the Democrats knew what was good for them, they would verify the African safari story and publicly ask the local officials to acknowledge that hunters are not dangerous criminals who deserve to be jailed for merely carrying a rifle in a case.
However, I do admit that it makes a great story to tell at the gun show we’re going to next month when we will be staffing a table encouraging people to get out in vote.
No obviously related posts.

Stories like this get my blood boiling.
[...] This isn’t gonna help Democrats appeal to the gun owner demographic. [...]
I didn’t click your link there, but one account I read said he was carrying two handguns as well without the proper license. Don’t know if it’s true or not, given the propensity by many in the media to not know their asses from their elbows when it comes time to understand gun laws.
But an interview with police and the guy indicated the handguns were cased as well.
“Police say Calanchini had permits for the rifles, but did not have concealed permits to carry two pistols that were found in his luggage. Calanchini says he forgot they were in there.”
This is complete crap. Rifles, at least in most states, and I think this includes Colorado, do not require permits. And concealed carry permits pertain to the carrying of a concealed weapon on a person, not in a person’s luggage.
This media tendency to refer to “permits” and “licenses” even when they aren’t needed is a problem…it reinforces the idea that licenses are the normal state of affairs.

Double pings and posts get deleted. It’s my biggest pet peeve.
There are no permits or licenses for either rifles or handguns in Colorado. Concealed Carry Permits are not required for firearms in cars, homes, or luggage. Neither the news clowns or the jackasses at the Denver PD know the gun laws here, since most of them come from places like California.
I hope the guy decides to sue everybody involved in this.
In Florida the law specifically states the registration of firearms is illegal. The law states further that no governmental agency will keep any list of firearms owners as such a list might fall into the wrong hands and become a shopping list for thieves. The concealed carry license information is specifically not public record.
Civil action for false arrest should be forthcoming in the Colorado case.

Dream on! I fully expect that someone at the DNC will “applaude” the “good work” of the DPD and SS in “apprehending a dangerous assassin”.
Any bets?

Not one of these guys, Right?
Considering the Secret Service was happy he wasn’t a threat, I really doubt it.
ZOMFG, the rifle had a SCOPE? Think of the children!
