More on the Ground Game
I called our local GOP office. They should have their McCain/Palin gear next week. That’s good.
I also asked about a list of ordinances for the townships across the county so we could find locations near gun clubs to place signs at intersections and the like. They have no such document and seemed to have never even thought of it. That’s bad.
My philosophy is that when people want to get involved and volunteer, I’m going to provide them with every tool I can to make that easier. When you work with candidates across the entire county, some of whom are running for office for the first time, it is reasonable to expect that someone would say, “Hey, let’s collect all of these ordinances in one document, make a little cheat sheet. That way as soon as we’re clear to start putting up signs in a town, we can send our people out or let residents know when it’s okay to go put one on the street corner.”
Alas, it is not so. Seriously, this is something the county GOP should know for their own promotional purposes. They need to be putting out signs at intersections, and it’s important to know when such action is allowed. Many cities limit where or when you can put signs out, often only 30-60 days prior to an election. Bad, bad signs.
