Happy Thanksgiving
So as everyone sits down to enjoy a meal with their family, I will be doing the same. Except, I found out last night that my mom is worried about competing with me. And for that, I think she’s nuts.
Yes, my mother is worried because she’s making the same turkey & mashed potatoes as I did when I hosted Thanksgiving for the first time last year for Sebastian’s folks. Well, technically she’s boiling the potatoes for me to make from there once I arrive. But she is making the turkey, so I guess there could be some kind of competition there. But not really. I totally cheated and used Alton Brown’s brine & roasting recipe.
So while I am thankful for my family today (and every day), I do have to use this post to say that every once in a while they are a little neurotic. (Well, in the case of some family members, very neurotic. But for mom, only a little.) If you read this before we arrive, it’s not a competition, Mom. It’s just dinner. Besides, if something goes horribly wrong, then we always have the ham. And you will never hear a complaint from me about an excuse to eat more HoneyBaked Ham.
I hope those of you who still visit by this site have an equally enjoyable holiday today. Enjoy your family, even for all of their quirks. And if you have a HoneyBaked Ham, be eternally thankful.
