Brazilian Steakhouses
Granny took us out to NaBrasa tonight, and it was her first experience at a Brazilian steakhouse. She seems to have enjoyed it, though she did get an awful lot on her plate at the salad bar – a rookie mistake.
My game plan is to go up to the salad bar only for items which will complement the meats and maybe just a salad bite or two to munch on while waiting for the meats to arrive. After that, it’s all meat. And in particular, the leg of lamb. Nabrasa has the best leg of lamb I have ever had. It is curl your toes good.
Tonight was the first time we’ve ever had to wait or would have been better off with a reservation. And to be honest, I think I’ll avoid those nights again. There was a table behind us of folks in their 20s or 30s taking flash pictures of every meat and even with the wine menu. Why? It was beyond annoying, and in fact, the girls taking the pictures were getting the meat and not even eating it. They just asked for it so the servers would come over to take the photos. I really wish they had been asked to knock it off. I realize the restaurant probably doesn’t want to offend, but they were clearly goofing off. Who is more likely to be a repeat customer, those who are seriously enjoying their selections or those who haven’t touched a bite & just let the meat stack up on the plate so they could take photos?
There was also a problem with the volume of the place tonight. Leave it to Sebastian to ponder if there’s a mathematical model for calculating how the volume of voices rises as the crowd grows.
But overall, NaBrasa is still a win. I’ll just try to make sure we make reservations either shortly after they open or right before they close.
I would also suggest that NaBrasa get connected with OpenTable. That way I can make a reservation without much effort from my phone.
