I had never eaten veal until my visit to Old Europe on Saturday night. I had the Jägerschnitzel which was delicious. I’ve never had any kind of a beef with veal. (Heh, I crack me up.) I just never bothered with it until it just seemed to jump out at me in that dish.
I had been planning to have one of the game dinners since we made it to town before the end of February. Alas, they switched out of Game Festival mode early and instead had Goulash Week. Though both of my dining partners opted for a boar goulash that looked great.
Next time we need to grab a bit on Capitol Hill, I might venture back to Cafe Berlin where we had lunch after McDonald and try their version of Jägerschnitzel. For that meal, I went with the turkey roulade which comes with my strong endorsement. I loved the peppercorn sauce.

I had never eaten meatloaf until a few months ago when Sebastian found out and decided to try his hand at smoking some.
This was mildly amusing because not even my mom knew I had never before tasted meatloaf. She enjoys it, but it finally hit her that she never made it at home. She would eat it when we went out sometimes, but I would have something else.
I wouldn’t say that I’m a meatloaf convert. I don’t really know if anyone could become a diehard meatloaf fan. But it was okay, and I suppose an easy way to use up some ingredients that would otherwise seem a bit random.

I’ve never had a Big Mac. Ever.
This came up the other day when McDonald’s was advertising for their new Big Mac Wrap. Sebastian expressed shock at this fact.
See, if I have to eat at McDonald’s, I have a few standards that I go to when ordering. Typically, you’ll find me ordering some kind of chicken meal – either the McNuggets (not really a fan, they just qualify as food) or Selects. Every once in a while, it’s a plain cheeseburger. When it was available, I even had a McRib. I’m pretty sure I’ve tried a Quarter Pounder once.
But really I only opt for McDonald’s as a fast food choice for breakfast. I confess, for a meal on the run, I actually like their bacon, egg, & cheese on a bagel.
